Thanks to all who joined us for the

4th Annual APHOES National Conference


St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Washington University School of Medicine, Division of Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology hosted the 4th Annual APHOES National Conference in May 2013.

Professionals joined together in St. Louis to address the educational needs and improve the school outcomes for pediatric hematology-oncology patients. The conference offered attendees participation in a working meeting to advance the field and to support the continued growth of the organization. Conference attendees engaged in a variety of educational sessions for professional development.


The conference featured keynote speaker, Kristina K. Hardy, PhD from Children's National Medical Center University George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Hardy has expertise in developmental and acquired difficulties with executive learning, and executive functioning. Dr. Hardy has a particular interest in evaluating the use of technology in mental health, including computerized assessment and cognitive training programs. As the keynote, Dr. Hardy presented "Learning Issues in Children with Cancer: What Medical Providers and School Staff Can Do to Promote Academic Success for Survivors."


In addition to this and other educational sessions, participants had the opportunity to network with other professionals in our field. The conference was held at The Westin St. Louis.
