2012 National Conference Summary
 
 


The School and Community Oncology Outreach Program at Akron Children's Hospital hosted the 2012 APHOES National Conference. The 2012 conference featured Catherine Woodman, M.D. as the keynote speaker. Dr. Woodman is presently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine. She is also a member of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Iowa Institutional Review Board Executive Committee. Dr. Woodman brings a unique perspective as both a medical professional and the parent of a medulloblastoma survivor.
Additional presentations were led by medical and educational experts with an emphasis on supporting the educational needs of children who are chronically ill.
The conference was held on May 2-4, 2012 at The DoubleTree Hotel and The Hilton Akron/Fairlawn. Professional development credits were available for those who were interested.
